Literacy classroom environments.

analyze two literacy classroom environments. You may choose to examine
environments at different grade levels (e.g., a literacy classroom at the K-2 level and one at the upper
elementary level) or in different contexts (e.g., a high school Biology classroom and a high school English
classroom). You may choose to conduct classroom observations; interview teachers, literacy coaches, and/or
students; examine curricula; and collect instructional and planning artifacts. In your analysis, you must include
the following: (1) introduction and discussion of the two classroom environments; (2) a discussion of
instructional techniques, strategies, and materials which support students’ literacy learning; (3) a critical
discussion in which you make suggestions for improving the classroom environment so that it would be more
supportive of all readers; and (4) a discussion of the implications for your own future literacy teaching. Your
analysis paper should be approximately 4-8 pages in length. Where appropriate, please include artifacts which
help to illustrate the arguments that you are making in your analysis. An assignment sheet, rubric, and samples
will be posted to Canvas. Part 1: Introduction (1-2 pages) Briefly describe each classroom environment and
provide an overview of the contents of the analysis. Where appropriate, include artifacts or evidence from your
observations. Part 2: Instructional Techniques, Strategies, and Materials (1-2 pages) Describe instructional
techniques, strategies, and materials which supported students’ literacy learning within each classroom. Use
anecdotal and artifactual evidence to support the analysis. Part 3: Suggestions for Improvement (1-2 pages)
Include specific ideas for improving each classroom environment so that each would be more supportive of all
readers. Draw on your experiences, evidence from the classroom observations, and research and/or theory.
Part 4: Implications (1 page or less) Reflect on the implications for your future literacy teaching. Where
appropriate, incorporate evidence and artifacts from the observations and interviews to support your reflection
