For writing intensive classes (i.e. Philosophy in Literature), the minimum word count is 2500,
maximum of 2800 words. You are required to utilize 3-5 sources. To achieve an A or B grade your sources must break down into 1-2 primary sources (i.e. literary or philosophical texts), 1-2 secondary sources (i.e. philosophical readings of your texts within the discipline of philosophy or-literary theory), and 1-2 tertiary or background sources (webpages such as wikis, etc.). Note: essays based on tertiary sources—i.e. essays that do not engage with and cite from philosophical/literary texts & scholarly books or articles that engage your sources directly—will not be graded.
