SHELLON

Social problem
The social problem I choose for my final project is the implementation of Technical and Vocational Educational and Training (TVET) in low-income communities in Guyana, South America. TVET programs aim to reduce educational inequality by addressing the multifaceted needs of low-income children and youth (Galindo, 2017).

Stakeholder
The stakeholder I selected to interview is parents. Parents are advocates, speaking in favor of, supporting, and making recommendations for their children's benefit (Alliance for Justice, n.d.). I selected parents to be interviewed rather than the other key stakeholders because Galindo's (2017) studies found that family engagement is salient; parents are viewed not only as vital for students' cognitive, emotional, and physical health but also for the community and school improvement. Parents provide a nurturing and caring home for their children; they help them with schoolwork, help support a healthy lifestyle, and help to control social development and behavior (Kolesnikova, 2022).

  2. How do you see yourself impacting the project from the beginning and throughout the years?
  3. What do you believe would likely happen if these changes are not made?
  4. What would be your role as a parent?
  5. How important is this project to you and your family (children), and why?
