No matter how extensive the research or accurate the conclusions, a weak presentation can undermin" rel="nofollow">ine an argument. A presentation is a tool to help make an argument. When creatin" rel="nofollow">ing presentations, students develop skills in" rel="nofollow">in researchin" rel="nofollow">ing an issue, synthesizin" rel="nofollow">ing the in" rel="nofollow">information, organizin" rel="nofollow">ing data logically, and presentin" rel="nofollow">ing fin" rel="nofollow">indin" rel="nofollow">ings in" rel="nofollow">in an effective manner. You will prepare a five- to six-slide PowerPoin" rel="nofollow">int presentation that describes the progression of your Capsim company durin" rel="nofollow">ing Competitive Rounds 1 through 3. Your audience consists of new board members for your company’s board of directors, and the presentation is in" rel="nofollow">intended to quickly brin" rel="nofollow">ing them up to speed. Use the checklist below to guide the development of your presentation.  Articulate the progression of the Capsim company in" rel="nofollow">in a well-organized and clear manner.  Appropriately synthesize in" rel="nofollow">information, organize the data logically, and present fin" rel="nofollow">indin" rel="nofollow">ings in" rel="nofollow">in an effective and efficient manner.  Use in" rel="nofollow">innovative and creative methods that are reflective of your Capsim company. Remember that you are seekin" rel="nofollow">ing to quickly update your company’s board of directors, so knowin" rel="nofollow">ing your audience and tailorin" rel="nofollow">ing your message to the audience is crucial. Present and organize the in" rel="nofollow">information in" rel="nofollow">in a way that is appropriate and relevant for the in" rel="nofollow">intended audience.  Create a professional presentation that adheres to the prin" rel="nofollow">inciples of an effective presentation (below) while properly citin" rel="nofollow">ing all relevant sources. Prin" rel="nofollow">inciples of an Effective Presentation  You may utilize a product such as PowerPoin" rel="nofollow">int or Google Presentation to create your presentation.  There are various template designs that you can fin" rel="nofollow">ind on the web for your presentation. Before selectin" rel="nofollow">ing a specific style, however, consider your presentation from the perspective of your audience. Distractin" rel="nofollow">ing backgrounds, large blocks of text, all uppercase fonts, elaborate font styles, grammatical errors, and misspellin" rel="nofollow">ings are distractin" rel="nofollow">ing. Be consistent with the style of text, bullets, and sub-poin" rel="nofollow">ints in" rel="nofollow">in order to support a powerful presentation that allows your content to be the focus.  Each slide should in" rel="nofollow">include your key poin" rel="nofollow">int(s). Do not place large blocks of text on the visual. Your presentation is not a means of presentin" rel="nofollow">ing a short paper. In an actual presentation, you would not read directly from your slides but rather use them as prompts.  Any notes or narration you would use in" rel="nofollow">in deliverin" rel="nofollow">ing this presentation to a group should be in" rel="nofollow">included in" rel="nofollow">in the notes section of the slide.  References should be listed at the bottom of the slide in" rel="nofollow">in slightly smaller text.  Use clip art, AutoShapes, pictures, charts, tables, and diagrams to enhance but not overwhelm your content.  Be min" rel="nofollow">indful of the in" rel="nofollow">intended audience and seek to assess the presentation’s effectiveness by gaugin" rel="nofollow">ing audience comprehension (when possible).
