Assignment 2: Theory to Practice Learning Book Project
The aim of this assignment is to provide students with the opportunity to apply learning from a chosen book to
their practicum experience. Students will
(1) select a book that holds relevance to your practicum,
(2) write an analytical treatment (e.g., book review) of the selected book,
(3) you will be reading this book alongside 2-3 other students and will hold two monthly “book club” sessions,
and
(4) offer insights into how you applied what you learned when applying concepts or ideas from the book to your
practice.
Step 1. Select a book that is related to your personal and professional growth. The book review project focuses
your work toward two guiding goals for the class: to engage in-depth with a scholarly inquiry area in the field of
higher education and to help you better understand a specific area within higher education
