Masculinity

Sociology says that much of gender is learned, and your readings including Ch 34, 36, 37, I’ve Folded up my
Masculine Mystique, and Still a Man’s World discuss how masculinity is perceived, learned, enforced, and
changing. What do you think? Do you agree with the authors’ conclusions? Be sure to show what the authors
discussed before you give your opinion. Is masculinity changing? What about how it is taught to children? Will
it continue to change? How so? How will it affect housework and child care in the future?
Citing the text for the writing assignments in this class
Since you are only referring only to the textbook for your writing assignments, you do not have to put a works
cited page at the end, but since we are working with different authors of the articles in our book I would like you
to put the author of the article then the page number in parentheses at the end of a sentence. However, if you
are comfortable with MLA and would like to practice it, please do. I just want you to practice quoting and
paraphrasing the textbook, and I offer this brief explanation to help you to avoid plagiarism.

operation of society” (Cooley, 12).
