Literature Review
• 5-6 pages in length proper formatting; spelling, grammar, and flow does not affect readability of paper
• demonstrates an understanding of the existing literature on a topic
• Incorporates at least 8 scholarly references (e.g. refereed journal articles)
• Addresses the following (for more detail refer to guidelines above) :
- Overview of the topic/problem of focus
- Synthesizes findings of the existing literature thematically (does not just summarize articles)
- Is organized in a logical manner (findings/studies are grouped together in a logical way)
- Identifies areas of controversy in the literature (i.e., what is problematic with the prior research (i.e., limitations?); is there disagreement?) and key conclusions from existing studies
