One way to identify literature for the literature review is to refer to the ten strategic points (DC Network, 2015). Researchers that complete the ten strategic points
cover all of the necessary components of thorough and effective research. First, the topic of the literature must connect to the chosen topic. Some titles are
misleading. The title should indicate what the article is about. Some of the articles found as a result of title searches proved that this is not true of all articles.
Skimming and reading through literature provides deeper insight into the topic of the chosen literature. If the topic does not align, continuing to read may be a waste
of time. There have been times that some articles provide miniscule details to support the topic but not enough to add the article to the literature review. Empirical
research must include foundational literature, problem statement, research questions, population, methodology, purpose, data, and findings. These points are required
for dissertation writing and should be used in the search for acceptable literature for a literature review.
Methodology helps to connect the purpose to the research question (Khalil, Peters, Godfrey, McInerney, Soares, & Parker, 2016). Literature that links the topic,
purpose, research questions, and methodology are recognized as the best articles to use for literature reviews. Each topic requires specific methodology in order to
find the most accurate results. Conducting additional research on the best methodology for my field of study will assist with choosing the best literature for the
literature review. Reading stimulates thinking and generates ideas and additional questions. Even without knowing the exact title or topic for my dissertation,
conducting a search on key words of interest will produce articles to read that will inspire additional thought. Taking notes and recording questions while reading
also helps with searching for literature. Unanswered questions about a field of study or broad topic can assist with searching for relevant literature.
