The Final paper is culmination of your learning in this course!
Brief Overview: What is art, what value does it hold within a society (if any) and how has your view/appreciation/expectations of art changed since taking this course?
Please cite and discuss two (2) works or artifacts or architecture from two different periods that we have studied. These two works should be from the museum visit.
MLA FORMAT, Time Roman 12pts, minimum 1600 words
Include:
Your name
Title
Bibliography (the course book plus 5 other references including min of 1 book plus
online recourses)
Images of 4 works ( 2 pieces compare/contrast + 2 pieces of past or future
influences- connecting the dots!)
Use references and quotes!
NOTE: Compare and contrast of the art works, artifacts or architectural objects. Please do not do just copy and paste a list related to individual pieces (size, medium
etc..). Instead, make the connections between the art works, its origin: culture, technology, socio-political, and historic circumstances.
Paper requirements:
Museum visit: your choices of two art works from the local museums. The art works need to be relevant to the Period Styles discussed in this course.
1. Mandatory is one piece from Chapter 25 compared to any other period!
2. Museum/s visit in person is mandatory part of this course for the FINAL PAPER.

INTRO: how did art reflect the influence of specific geographic region, its climate and
mythology behind each period?
Introduce the selection of two artifacts that will be compared via:
Socio political circumstances: e.g.
Historic events at the specific time period ( patrons, rulers, wars...)
Period style discussion that coincide with the art work production.
Scientific and technological advancements that occurred and reflected onto the
art/architecture production
Compare and contrast two artifacts to each other via all the categories: narrative,
composition (symmetry/asymmetry, and movement within), color, medium, size, lines, shapes, negative space vs positive, technique, references to other artists works
that is similar and have visible influences. Define compositional focus.( 2 pics)

Conclusion: Share your experience and AHA! Moment while you are researching and learning about the art works. Discuss what is unique and surprising that affected you
and made you choose this work. How the experience of being in the presence of the real artifacts did affect you by comparison to the web site or a reproduction
impressions?
