My contribution and the potential role of World Bank in Ending extreme poverty by 2030
Order Description
Describe in" rel="nofollow">in fewer than 1,000 words your own contribution and the potential role of World Bank in" rel="nofollow">in resolvin" rel="nofollow">ing some of the below challenges.
Focus on your area of expertise (PUBLIC HEALTH - EPIDEMIOLOGY) to describe your proposal.
“Endin" rel="nofollow">ing extreme poverty by 2030 and boostin" rel="nofollow">ing shared prosperity in" rel="nofollow">in a sustain" rel="nofollow">inable manner are the drivin" rel="nofollow">ing missions for the World Bank Group.
While the goals are simple to grasp, the efforts it will take to meet them are not. Just as there are many in" rel="nofollow">interconnected and overlappin" rel="nofollow">ing
causes behin" rel="nofollow">ind extreme poverty, the solutions required are just as complex and unique to each country’s in" rel="nofollow">individual circumstances. The
fundamentals, however, remain" rel="nofollow">in true: countries must grow their economies in" rel="nofollow">inclusively, so that everyone benefits; they must in" rel="nofollow">invest in" rel="nofollow">in their
people; and they must ensure that those who have left poverty do not fall back in" rel="nofollow">into it.
Yet, the world today is much different than it was even just a few years ago. The global community is facin" rel="nofollow">ing challenges that are diverse in" rel="nofollow">in
nature—economic, humanitarian, environmental—but that share key features. First, they threaten the hard-won development gain" rel="nofollow">ins of recent
decades; and second, they will not be contain" rel="nofollow">ined within" rel="nofollow">in any one country’s borders. Millions of people have been forcibly displaced by
conflict and live in" rel="nofollow">in ever-more fragile areas; the risks of pandemics can devastate the health of in" rel="nofollow">individuals, but also undermin" rel="nofollow">ine countries’
economies; and the threats of climate change are becomin" rel="nofollow">ing ever more apparent.
Everyone will be affected. Yet the poorest and most vulnerable will be affected most. To address these challenges, the World Bank Group is
workin" rel="nofollow">ing to become a more agile partner in" rel="nofollow">in addressin" rel="nofollow">ing the world’s most pressin" rel="nofollow">ing problems. It aims to leverage and apply its unique
capabilities to provide the in" rel="nofollow">innovative fin" rel="nofollow">inancin" rel="nofollow">ing and creative solutions that support countries in" rel="nofollow">in dealin" rel="nofollow">ing with these challenges at the
local, regional, and global levels. As the world works to confront these challenges,
the World Bank Group will contin" rel="nofollow">inue to play an essential role in" rel="nofollow">in supportin" rel="nofollow">ing global development and workin" rel="nofollow">ing to safeguard the progress toward
the 2030 sustain" rel="nofollow">inable development agenda.” (Extract from the 2016 WBG Annual Report)
