throughout the course about politics and to apply this to a real-world example. You may write about a bill that has become law or a bill that has died (failed to become law). Your paper will

accordin" rel="nofollow">ing to the ?stakes? of politics in" rel="nofollow">in chapter 1? 2. Summarize some of the key provisions and parts of the bill or law – who put it forward and why? What would it do? What have others said about
it? Identify the political ideologies associated with the bill: that is, Is the bill primarily liberal or conservative, and why? (make sure to explain" rel="nofollow">in usin" rel="nofollow">ing poin" rel="nofollow">ints from chapter 2 in" rel="nofollow">in the book). 3.

your personal thoughts and impressions on this issue. As you can see, this paper will in" rel="nofollow">involve a considerable amount of searchin" rel="nofollow">ing on the web. Get started early. If you run in" rel="nofollow">into trouble or have
questions or need help, get in" rel="nofollow">in touch with me right away so that we can address it. If you wait until the due date, there may not be much I can do. Break the assignment up in" rel="nofollow">into pieces – fin" rel="nofollow">ind your
issue first. The source material websites or news websites might be a great place to start. Identify your issue and work from there. Source materials: http://votesmart.org/in" rel="nofollow">interest-groups
https://congress.gov/ news outlet websites (Fox News, CNN, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washin" rel="nofollow">ington Post) are good startin" rel="nofollow">ing poin" rel="nofollow">ints. Buzzfeed, Politico, and Mic (and many others) are also
full of news about pendin" rel="nofollow">ing bills and new laws. If you have a question about possible sources, run it by me. Gradin" rel="nofollow">ing will be based on: Answerin" rel="nofollow">ing all the questions, the quality of your research (how
well you answer the questions above, the extent of your research and use of sources) and your ability to relate key terms and concepts raised in" rel="nofollow">in the course and assigned readin" rel="nofollow">ings to your bill or
law. Be specific and cite specific poin" rel="nofollow">ints from the book as evidence to support your analysis of the issue. Your grade will also reflect followin" rel="nofollow">ing the in" rel="nofollow">instructions given in" rel="nofollow">in the assignment and the
quality of your writin" rel="nofollow">ing (proper length, grammar, writin" rel="nofollow">ing, etc.). I don’t expect flawless grammar or writin" rel="nofollow">ing, but use spell check, proofread, and keep errors to an absolute min" rel="nofollow">inimum. The paper is
worth 50 poin" rel="nofollow">ints toward your fin" rel="nofollow">inal grade in" rel="nofollow">in the course. Do not plagiarize. Cite your sources, do your own origin" rel="nofollow">inal work, and document your research. If you’re unclear on this, see me right away. Do
drop by and see me or get in" rel="nofollow">in touch if you’d like feedback, tips, suggestions, etc. or if there is anythin" rel="nofollow">ing I can do to help. NUTS AND BOLTS Papers will be submitted electronically through
Blackboard. Heads up…make sure it’s in" rel="nofollow">in .doc, .docx, RTF, or PDF. If you use non-Microsoft programs for this project, such as Mac, look for the option to save your presentation in" rel="nofollow">in RTF (Rich Text

plus a works cited page listin" rel="nofollow">ing your sources. This should be in" rel="nofollow">in APA format. Pages numbered, with standard 1-in" rel="nofollow">inch margin" rel="nofollow">ins, and 12 poin" rel="nofollow">int font. Write your name and “POLS 100 onlin" rel="nofollow">ine” and the date, as
well as the title of your paper in" rel="nofollow">in the headin" rel="nofollow">ing, and then begin" rel="nofollow">in writin" rel="nofollow">ing. Please do not tweak margin" rel="nofollow">ins or spacin" rel="nofollow">ing in" rel="nofollow">in a covert attempt to lengthen your paper. It's easily spotted and it just annoys me.
If you need help, ask. No need for a cover page. Make sure to use page numbers. Cite your sources in" rel="nofollow">in APA format in" rel="nofollow">in a works cited page at the end of your paper. You may turn the paper in" rel="nofollow">in anytime you
wish, up to the due date listed on the weekly course schedule.
