Write a report on recent political events in a country. You may choose the country, but for the first report it must be an African country.
Your paper should include the following elements:
1)The country and regime type
2)A brief description of the country, including the location, population, climate, and per capita GDP
3)The leader: Include who they are and to what party they belong
4)COVID: What effect did COVID-19 have on the country? How many deaths? How well did the country deal with the pandemic?
5)Recent political events: Describe some political events that occurred in the country since July 2023. Why should we (the United States) be interested in these events?

Country: Nigeria Regime Type: Federal presidential constitutional republic Description: Nigeria is a country in West Africa with a population of over 211 million people. It is the most populous country in Africa and the seventh most populous country in the world. Nigeria is bordered by Niger to the north, Benin to the west, Cameroon to the east, and Chad to the northeast. It has a coastline on the Gulf of Guinea in the south. The climate of Nigeria is tropical, with rainy and dry seasons. The per capita GDP of Nigeria is $2,280.
Leader: President Muhammadu Buhari is the current leader of Nigeria. He is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
COVID: COVID-19 has had a significant impact on Nigeria. The country has recorded over 255,000 cases and 3,144 deaths. The Nigerian government has taken a number of measures to deal with the pandemic, including closing schools and businesses, imposing travel restrictions, and launching a vaccination campaign. However, the country’s response to the pandemic has been criticized by some for being slow and ineffective.
