Non-profit Job Letter

  Find a non-profit that serves an immigrant population in New York City using a site like idealist.org or a general internet search. You will write a 3-4 page letter of application to them applying for a position as a community outreach team member. This person is described as “someone who can bring together immigrants and the larger community to build stronger relationships.” In addition to demonstrating you understand the mission and goals of the organization your letter must detail the following: • what you know about this immigrant group in the U.S. including reasons for migrating (citing scholarly sources for your information) • what you have learned in class discussion and how it applies to the position • agencies and organizations you could partner with for programming • experts who study the group who you could connect with the organization.
