Nonfiction

Submit one original piece of creative nonfiction (3-5 pages, double-spaced and

paginated). Use Chapter Six in Three Genres as a guide. Some possibilities include, but are not limited to:

A memoir
An opinion piece
A piece of criticism (a review of a book, a movie, a restaurant) that uses the form to make some larger

arguments.
A food piece
A piece in which you are an observer.
A profile of a real person
An interesting true-life story
In completing this assignment, be creative with form and language as you would when writing poetry.

Make characters and settings come alive as you would in fiction. But remember that you are bound by the

truth—no making stuff up! You may need to do some research to make this piece come alive.
