DISCUSSION PAPER:
Students will be required to write a formal discussion paper (essay) on one of the following topics:
1. “Organic foods are more nutritious than non-organic foods.” Are organic foods a better source of nutrients?
2. “Amino acids are the building blocks for muscle.” What issues relevant to protein and amino acid intake does the vegetarian athlete face, when trying to build muscle?
3. “I don’t like my peas.” Highlight and discuss five factors that influence a person’s food choices.
4. “No matter what I do with my training I am always tired.” Describe and discuss three nutritional factors or practices that would influence fatigue and performance in an endurance athlete.
