This is my Brainstorming: Obesity has reached unprecedented levels globally and its rise is projected to
continue. This has caused widespread concern, considering the associations between obesity and a range of
adverse health conditions. There is a widely held view that the increasing rates of obesity will lead to an
epidemic of diabetes, other chronic conditions, and a subsequent reduction in life expectancy.
Some of the variables related to obesity among the African American woman can be affected by outside
influences such as the lack of safe areas to exercise within a neighborhood, one’s income level, or access to
healthy food. Ultimately, weight loss requires a lifestyle change, which can be challenging and may not be
easily attainable.
