Your job is to observe what’s going on and write about the details. Eavesdrop on what people are saying and write down notes. The time we spent practicing dialogue will help. Write about what people are wearing. Describe the noises. The ringing of a cash register. A ball being hit or kid screaming. You should not become part of the paper. Don’t interact with others. In a sense, you’re a camera that sees and smells and hears and feels and thinks but does not talk.
