Obsessive Compulsive Disorder(OCD) AND OCD in movie: AS GOOD AS IT GETS

PART I Brief overview of obsessive-compulsive disorder. Identify and discuss the biological, psychological, social, cultural and spiritual factors that influence the onset and course of this disorder. Be sure to include risk and protective factors. Cultural factors must include the ways in which gender, race, class, sexual orientation (and/or age/ability, etc.) influence the diagnosis and manifestation of the "disorder- and what role discrimination and oppression play in the diagnostic process. Discuss the theoretical differences between the way a recovery-oriented approach differs from a medical approach to understanding the disorder/condition. Provide a summary of research informed treatment approaches to address the disorder/condition. PART 2 Provide a description of how the character's account of obsessive compulsive disorder aligned with or differed from the DSM; and description of the person's experience (emotionally and otherwise), family's experience, and experiences with mental health professionals PART 3 From a social justice and human rights perspective, include your suggestions for promoting recovery, enhancing resiliency, and increasing access to services for people challenged by this disorder/condition. Suggestions must include at least one recommendation for a new or amended agency/state/federal policy. (my suggestion is to recommend for making mental health care more accessible for those who need it and to advocate for eliminating the stigma of this diagnosis somehow? )
