One page journal
Write a journal (a thoughtful note) to show your critical thinking skills and ability relating theories or concepts studied in this course to facts and events you may observe outside the classroom. WHILE Reading books, newspapers, magazines; Talking to the grandparents, parents, siblings, relatives, friends, neighbors, drivers, shopkeepers; Watching news, dramas, songs, serials, or movies; Visiting relatives’ friends’ houses (or dorms), shops, play grounds, parks, museums, or movie houses YOU MAY Observe an event, a news item, a discussion, a fact, an artifact and think of its relationship to study in this subject about: Political groups and political crises in the contemporary (Arab) world; Competition among nations, war, and peace; European colonial influence and human development in Muslim majority countries; Civil Society and World (Political) Development RECORD (about 50 words): Write the main features of your observation very briefly but clearly RELATE (about 100 words): Write very clearly from our study theories, concepts, methods, or laws that relate to your recorded item (do not just think that there is a relationship) REVIEW (about 100 words): Write your thoughts (e.g. ‘what’, ‘why’ or ‘how’) citing appropriate theories, evidence, and logic, you may: Connect the ‘Record’ with the ‘Relate’ OR Compare, examine, point-out, justify any thing that you find relevant Must AVOID prejudice (unsubstantiated opinion) or bias (favoring or disfavoring an occurrence, fact, or view for personal preference with no evidence or logic), or patronizing prescription (government should….). So you should write a one page journal about a concept in the powerpoint chapter or an event in the chapter and related to a thing in my life as the description described a 50 word RECORD 100 word RELATE 100 word REVIEW and there should be a citation for what I relate to this journal
