Organizations exist in an environment that is subject to constant and rapid change. Being a future manager students are expected to be able understand the need for change and how best implement change.
Discuss organizational change from a manager’s point of view using a real-world example taken from your own work place or an organization of your choice.
Your report must cover the following issues:
- What was the change that the organization implemented?
- Why this change was required and what were the expected benefits?
- What resistance to change was encountered or anticipated?
- How this resistance to change was overcome?
- How could the change have implemented in a more effective way?
- Start by identifying a real-world Organizational Change example (called the case study). Ideally this organizational change situation should be taken from your own place of work. Please refer to the end of this document for some possible organizational change scenarios you could consider.
I suggest use a simple organizational change example as it will be easier to analyse and explain. - Think about the Organizational Change processes and strategies that were implemented by management during the change management process in your analysis.
What went right and what went wrong with the organizational change. What barriers to change were encountered? - Research the theory on organizational change and find references from academic sources. The more theory you provide the better your mark.
- Come up with answers to the 5 questions provided. Your answers mist wherever possible be linked to relevant organizational change theory.
- Analyze all the information you have gathered and summarize your findings.
