The overall goal of the Final Project is to provide an opportunity for the learner to plan, develop and engage in an interprofessional collaboration activity.
Please refer to the Final Project link in Module 7 for complete details regarding the Final Project.
For an educationally sound project, all interprofessional collaboration activities require (1) planning, (2) participant preparation and participation, (3) debriefing, and (4) evaluation.
Assignment 3 addresses the last step of the planned interprofessional activity, participation, debriefing and evaluation. Participation in all planned interprofessional activities begins with a formal overview or briefing related to the learning expectations conducted by the event facilitator. During this time, participants are oriented to the experience that will follow and may be given a specified amount of time to collaborate with team members in preparation for the actual event, if appropriate. Participation in the interprofessional activity follows immediately. Debriefing is a key element of the experience because not everyone is naturally able to analyze, make sense of, and assimilate learning experiences on their own. Lastly, a formal evaluation, designed to allow participants to evaluate their own achievement of the specified learning outcomes and interprofessional collaborative activity, will be completed by all participants immediately after the planned activity.
Assignment 3 Instructions:
Participation, Debriefing and Evaluation should be a minimum of 5-8 pages (not including title page and references) in APA format. You may include Appendixes as necessary. Be sure to include introductory and summary paragraphs. Be sure to refer to the Project Guide for additional information.
- Provide an introduction to the planned activity.
- Provide an overview of the planned activity setting.
- Discuss the steps taken to develop this planned activity.
- Identify and discuss how you applied team building, communication and interprofessional collaboration theories and/or concepts to this planned activity.
- Evaluate the process:
• Who was present?
• Was anyone missing? If so, what was the rationale and what adjustments did you make for the planned activity?
• Identify and discuss what worked well and why it did.
• Identify and discuss what did not work well and why it did not.
• Would you want to continue working with this group? Why or why not?
• Were there any team dynamic issues? How were the issues resolved?
• Were the objectives met? Why or why not?
• Did the team members demonstrate a better understanding of each other and the issue(s)? Provide specific examples. - Share the debriefing points utilized in the debriefing and discuss team member input. Did every member participate in the debriefing? Explain how you guided the debriefing.
- Include the evaluation rubric as an appendix and discuss the overall results (analysis) of each question. Did any of the evaluation results surprise you?
- Discuss your overall experience with the three phases of this planned IPC activity. Consider and discuss the following:
o What did you learn from engaging in the planning, development and implementation of the interprofessional collaborative planned activity?
o What about the IPC process was the most challenging?
o What about the IPC process was the most rewarding?
o What would you have done differently?
o How will you apply this learning process to future IPC opportunities?
o What surprised you the most during the process?
o How has this activity affected you as a professional nurse? - What recommendations would you provide to your organization regarding the implementation of interprofessional collaboration activities?
10.Reflect on your own performance as an individual and as a team member. Is there an area you can identify for performance improvement? - Include a minimum of 3 evidence-based resources.
