Read the case study "Pennsylvania's Unemployment Compensation Modernization
System: Unfinished Business" (attached). As you review the case focus on two issues in
particular:
- DLI's management failures in the project to date
- The complexity of this project and ways to keep it on track
Assume that you are advising (consulting) for DLI on a project to complete Phase 3.
Remember that the original Phase 3 work was stopped due to "problems that could not
be resolved". Your consulting company will not be doing the actual work on the new
Phase 3 project, but as been hired to manage the project to keep it within budget and on
schedule. - Identify the 2 most important project management techniques your consulting
company will use to keep this project on track. Be sure to support your positions and cite
at least 1 external source for each of the two techniques. - Identify the biggest challenge you see to keeping this project on track, given the
historical issues with this project. (You can draw from Phase 1, 2 or 3 for this question
and you may also choose a challenge that isn't tied to a perticular phase, but be
specific. For example, "budget" is certainly not specific enough. Explain why your
chosen challenge is the biggest issue, but you do not need to provide any external
sources to support your position here.
