Personal Education Narrative

Draw from critical identity autobiography ( minority, poor, low income,Phila public school) and analyze and reflect specifically on your own educational upbringing. Using concepts learned thus far in the course, complete the following:

• Examine how issues of race, class, socioeconomic status, and other intersections of oppression may have affected your own K-12 experience, whether it was urban, suburban or rural.
• Use data from the OCR data collection to discuss the demographics of the schools that you have attended. (If you attended school outside of the United States, please provide information about your school’s demographics).
• Use at least 3 references to class readings as points of comparison and contrast in analyzing educational opportunity in your own communities and in your personal experience in light of the historical, social, political, and economic factors in urban schools.
• What are the implications of your own personal education journey for the mindsets and dispositions that you bring into the classroom?
