1.During parent teacher meetings, the parents of one of your Year 5 students have expressed concerns about their child’s engagement in school, and you share the same concern, as the child’s focus and engagement in academic activities has slowly started to decline over the last tow terms. The parents believe it is because their child has started to experience puberty much earlier than their peers. The parents have asked you for advice on how to handle the situation? Consider what advice and information you would pass on to the parents regarding the early-onset of puberty. Consider how this might differ for girls and boys. How might your advice differ if the reverse was occurring and the child had not yet commenced puberty, unlike the rest of their peers.
