Plan of action using the Management Process of POLC
Interview a corporate manager from a company with no less than 250 employees.
As a team, you interview a manager and report on how that manager applies the management process to either his or her daily routines or a specific project that has a start and end date.
Part A:
Plan of Action – Due date – See Critical Path
Identify each group member and the leader of the group.
Complete the plan of action using the Management Process of POLC.
Plan – State the goals your group has for this assignment. State the strategies to achieve these goals. There must be a timeline for completion of the goals. Synchronize with the Control section.
Organize – Allocate your resources. Identify what each person will do for the project. Create a time schedule that your group will follow for project work and meetings.
Lead – Indicate ways you will stay motivated to work at this project and maintain a steady pace to complete the project on time. Each student will sign this plan of action as a commitment to the group and the completion of the project.
Control – state along a time line or schedule how you plan to ensure your project stays on tract.
Use a time line in the form of a Gantt Chart or other recording method over the term. Over the term you will make notations on this time line as you monitor the group`s progress.
Attendance at meetings must be recorded. The meeting schedule is to be submitted with the report and I will ask to see it periodically throughout the term.
Part B: Formal Report – Due Date – See the critical path
Interview a corporate manager to determine how he/she used the four functions of management process (POLC) to complete a project. Your report should include the following:
1. Introduction – Identify the manager you are interviewing. Provide a background
description of the manager and his/her title and duties at the company. Provide a brief description of the company. Provide an overview of the project that you interviewed your manager about.
2. Body – Describe how the manager used each function of the management process (POLC) to complete the project. Be as detailed as possible. Use charts and graphs where applicable. Identify and describe any challenges and problems faced by the manager and how they were overcome.
3. Conclusion – Describe the final outcome of the project.
4. Plan of Action Control – Attach the time line from your plan of action which will indicate your monitoring of progress over the term.
Part C: Peer Evaluation – Due Date – See Critical Path – NO EXCEPTIONS
Each group member will provide a confidential peer evaluation of each group member. The peer evaluation form will be posted on the course site.
The same manager cannot be used for more than one group. Relatives and friends permitted.
THE REPORT:
Your report must be written in report style with headings and sub-headings.
Make sure there is a title page, table of contents, introduction, body, conclusion, and bibliography.
Use 12 point Times or Arial, space lines 1.5, one side of the page only.
The main section of your report should be 8 – 10 pages.
You may then add appendices if required.
