For this essay, please pick one of the poems from your textbook, a poem of your choice, or song lyrics of your
choice, and write a persuasive essay using one of the elements we study in this course (word choice, tone,
imagery, allegory, poetic form, rhythm. rhyme, etc.). Your essay must be at least 5 paragraphs long. You may
use research if you like, but your main source material should be the poem itself. Remember to include a
detailed introduction, ending with your thesis statement, and a detailed conclusion. You must use quotations
from the poem as proof of your thesis. Make sure to include an in-text citation (author last name, year) and be
sure to state the title and author of the poem in the introduction.
