Policy Position Paper

This paper requires you to further explore the issue that you selected in the ‘Policy Topic Selection & Article Annotation’ assignment.

I. Briefly summarize the key arguments in the topic that you chose. Some questions to consider: What are the main arguments in support and in opposition to the issue that you selected? Who is interested in this policy issue? Why is this an important issue in educational policy? What evidence/research based arguments have been used to support or oppose this policy?
II. State your position. Some questions to consider: Do you support or oppose the policy issue that you have chosen? What evidence did you draw on to reach this position (personal experience, scientific evidence, both?) What impact would this policy have on the rest of the education system?
III. Discuss the process of and/or barriers related to implementing the policy issue that you chose. Some questions to consider: How would a school district (or national government, or higher education institution) implement the policy issue that you are in support of. Or conversely, (if you don’t support the policy) why shouldn’t they implement it? What economic or cultural barriers can impact educational policy implementation?
