Using the 2018 voting guide: https://vig.cdn.sos.ca.gov/2018/general/pdf/complete-vig.pdf (Links to an external site.), pick a policy and examine it. Answer the following questions, and be sure to have at least one textual citation/paraphrase from the guide itself per question. Submitted essay should be approximately 300-500 words. Note: footnotes still required!
1) What is the political affiliation of the policy? For example: does it seem to come from Republicans? Democrats? Business owners? Grass roots activists? Does it have a clear connection with common traits from one of those parties/sources?
2) What does it say it does and what does it actually do? Remember: in the voting guide, you have a deep discussion of the pertinent political issues, and a lot of back and forth in terms of cause and effect. Use that! Also bear in mind that the proponents and opponents will have different things to say both in terms of what the policy does and what its most important effects are. Who do you believe and why?
3) Is this overall a good policy? I.e., if it were on the ballot today and you had to vote one way or another, would you vote for it or against it?
