1.Historical Thinking Question: The historian should play a public role based of their convection's. I do not know of a set standard that says what historians should do once they become historians. Some historians will be teachers. Some will work at museums. If a historian wants to serve the public, I am sure they can volunteer their time at the library or use their skills to enlighten people on social media.
Research Skill Building: This week I am analyzing a political cartoon. There is no title, only the authors name, Mike Luckovich. The first thing I notice is President Trumps hair. He is drawn in a way to emphasize his big hair, orange skin, and angry face. The scene is two people sitting on the couch watching President Trump on tv. The woman is significantly larger than the man, but I do not understand the artists intentions of that. The words say. 1 declare a national emergency!" and the response from people watching the tv is, "I declare a national embarrassment." The artist is visualizing his views on the President's actions. He is saying that America is embarrassed by the President's actions. The artist is against the Presidents recent decision to declare a national emergency over our open border. It was created in a time of political division in the America. There are many other documents and evidence to help me understand this cartoon. I could use any news outlets website. Writing Question: I do not have any changes to my previous thesis statement. Again, if anyone has any feedback I would appreciate it. 2.Historical Thinking Question: What role public role should the historian play? Digital history? Public history? The role an historian plays in society can best be summed up as the memory of that society. With out the historian then the past mistakes and victories are forgotten. Society is no less dependent on maintaining its true memory on not letting its memory vanish or become manipulated and eclipsed by other's fantasies, myths, or false memories.
