A public need is defin" rel="nofollow">ined as the gap between what is happenin" rel="nofollow">ing now in" rel="nofollow">in society and what needs to be happenin" rel="nofollow">ing to ensure the best services, programs, or projects for the
people. The needs assessment process is what we use in" rel="nofollow">in the public sector to bridge or fill that gap.
For this discussion, you will describe a public needs assessment that you have worked on as part of your job or in" rel="nofollow">in your daily life, or one you are aware of in" rel="nofollow">in your
community.
In your post, defin" rel="nofollow">ine and describe the followin" rel="nofollow">ing:
Historical trends that structure public needs assessment plannin" rel="nofollow">ing and planned change.
The need or gap in" rel="nofollow">in services, programs, or projects, and when it occurred.
The people who were in" rel="nofollow">involved in" rel="nofollow">in tryin" rel="nofollow">ing to develop a comprehensive action learnin" rel="nofollow">ing solution.
The scope and success of the action learnin" rel="nofollow">ing solution.
Status of the issue today.
In addition, provide a logic model to illustrate how the needs-based issues can be narrowed down to impact planned change.
Remember to use citations and references as appropriate. Your in" rel="nofollow">initial post should be at least 250 words and follow current APA style.

Usin" rel="nofollow">ing your texts and at least two of the peer-reviewed articles on public needs assessment projects that you located in" rel="nofollow">in this unit's studies, compare the in" rel="nofollow">initial
activities each article recommends. How does each manage the issue of havin" rel="nofollow">ing the right representatives at the table to work on the project? Discuss how the in" rel="nofollow">initial
activities are determin" rel="nofollow">ined and which comes first—activities or stakeholder identification? What do you thin" rel="nofollow">ink is the best approach based on what you know today?

Review the three articles on public needs assessment projects you located in" rel="nofollow">in this unit's studies. Describe and compare the articles in" rel="nofollow">in terms of the conceptualization
of community needs assessment projects' framework for process effectiveness and stakeholder representation.
Analyze the situational analysis framework of the needs and methodology used in" rel="nofollow">in measurin" rel="nofollow">ing the problem concepts. Operationally, defin" rel="nofollow">ine the problem concepts as to which
levels of measurement of the needs can be identified. How in" rel="nofollow">indicators of readin" rel="nofollow">iness are assessed? How the community and subgroups within" rel="nofollow">in it brought up to a state of
readin" rel="nofollow">iness?
In your post, in" rel="nofollow">include a description of each project, anythin" rel="nofollow">ing that is obvious to you about how they compare and contrast, and who is or could be in" rel="nofollow">involved in" rel="nofollow">in each
project. Based on what you have learned about these projects, determin" rel="nofollow">ine whether the right people are in" rel="nofollow">involved on each NAC, from both community and government
perspectives? Which appears to be the most successful to you in" rel="nofollow">in terms of process (not outcome) and why?

From the sources you have reviewed to date, in" rel="nofollow">includin" rel="nofollow">ing the articles on needs assessment that you located in" rel="nofollow">in this unit's studies, how easy or difficult would it be to
gather accurate in" rel="nofollow">information to support the needs assessment process? How does this relate to modelin" rel="nofollow">ing requirements of the hybrid framework used in" rel="nofollow">in public needs
assessment and A/CB processes? What difficulties can you identify in" rel="nofollow">in gettin" rel="nofollow">ing consistent and reliable data?
The unit readin" rel="nofollow">ings brought up the differences between collaborative and cooperative structures. There are advantages and disadvantages to each. Based on your studies
thus far, what types of structure makes the most sense to you for the kin" rel="nofollow">inds of public issues that in" rel="nofollow">interest you? Please explain" rel="nofollow">in your rationale and reasonin" rel="nofollow">ing for your
selection.

You have thought about the public sources of in" rel="nofollow">information about your action learnin" rel="nofollow">ing needs-based issue, but what about the literature and current stakeholder
in" rel="nofollow">information? Usin" rel="nofollow">ing the articles you located in" rel="nofollow">in this unit's study, identify and briefly analyze two other current peer-reviewed sources of community data gathered from
stakeholders that might in" rel="nofollow">influence (not support or detract—be objective) your project for this course. You will use this further in" rel="nofollow">in a discussion and a later assignment.

magin" rel="nofollow">ine you had all the right people in" rel="nofollow">in the room and did all of the right data gatherin" rel="nofollow">ings. However, you did not ask the right action learnin" rel="nofollow">ing questions to gain" rel="nofollow">in in" rel="nofollow">insights
in" rel="nofollow">into stakeholder in" rel="nofollow">information that can suggest the acquisition of new programmed knowledge management to shape organizational capacity of service delivery systems? Here
is your chance to thin" rel="nofollow">ink about what you need to know.
Based on the guidelin" rel="nofollow">ines in" rel="nofollow">in your Bridgin" rel="nofollow">ing the Gap Between Asset/Capacity Buildin" rel="nofollow">ing and Needs Assessment text, ABC of Action Learnin" rel="nofollow">ing e-book, and other sources you can
cite, what is the action learnin" rel="nofollow">ing questions that you should ask on the assessment plannin" rel="nofollow">ing tools for systems changes to address your community-based problems? What
would you like to know but cannot figure out how to ask? This will build toward your fin" rel="nofollow">inal assignment. List some action learnin" rel="nofollow">ing and assessment plannin" rel="nofollow">ing questions, and
defin" rel="nofollow">ine what you would like to know but do not know how to ask.

You have viewed the two presentations on Riverbend City's NAC members analyzin" rel="nofollow">ing some of the data for use in" rel="nofollow">in the needs prioritization and project in" rel="nofollow">interview process.
Thus, you now know a lot more about Riverbend City's public needs assessment project. This is an opportunity to analyze what you understand so far about its SAF.
You will then determin" rel="nofollow">ine the next steps for the project. Some of the members have very different perspectives on what the SAF data means and some are supportive of
certain" rel="nofollow">in needs-based issues. Everyone has their own perspective, areas of expertise, and in" rel="nofollow">interests. Reliability and validity of the SAF data also play a role in" rel="nofollow">in the
outcome.
As a consultant hired to facilitate this SAF of Riverbend City's case study exploration, in" rel="nofollow">include the followin" rel="nofollow">ing in" rel="nofollow">in your analysis:
Select members of the NAC and develop the strategy they should use to make sure the SAF data they are supportin" rel="nofollow">ing is as accurate and useful as possible.
Are the right people represented on the NAC? Consider who else might be added?
What kin" rel="nofollow">inds of data gatherin" rel="nofollow">ing and modelin" rel="nofollow">ing have been performed already? Provide examples of what makes their data effective and in" rel="nofollow">informative for the needs prioritization
process.
Write a script defendin" rel="nofollow">ing and explain" rel="nofollow">inin" rel="nofollow">ing the data use to other NAC members. Remember to use the voices of other committee members to ask your selected member questions
to carry the discussion along.
Discuss the next steps in" rel="nofollow">in the data gatherin" rel="nofollow">ing process.
You will want to consider focus groups and in" rel="nofollow">interviewin" rel="nofollow">ing techniques, participants, possible access barriers to people or in" rel="nofollow">information, and any other aspects that you
thin" rel="nofollow">ink might trip up the project. Remember, you are the consultant hired to facilitate this, so be creative.
Response Guidelin" rel="nofollow">ines
Assess the logic and rationale represented in" rel="nofollow">in the scripts of at least one peer, comparin" rel="nofollow">ing the ideas and solutions to your own. What did he or she present that allows
the project to take a new and better direction? How has this changed your own thin" rel="nofollow">inkin" rel="nofollow">ing? What other arguments could be made for the data used? What other pitfalls do
you see in" rel="nofollow">in the use of data? Be supportive and constructive in" rel="nofollow">in your feedback.
