This paper will expand on the topic paper submitted earlier, by conducting a literature search on diverse social theories and concepts that are related to the issue of interest. For example, a term paper could analyze ways in which different conceptualizations of race and ethnicity are used in the research literature on obesity or health disparities, or compare different theories for the understanding of racial/ethnic differences in educational outcomes in the United States.
Students will write a critical summary of the key findings and properly cite each author. Papers may also discuss the strengths and weaknesses of two or more sociological theories addressing a specific social problem.
