Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

  Description:       Post-traumatic stress disorder or PTSD can develop in people who have experienced a traumatic event which may have threatened their safety/life, or who have witnessed an event that threatened others- Events triggering the onset of PTSD are varied and may occu at a local scale (e-g- car accident) through to an international scale (e-g- war)- it is not uncommon for those suffering from PTSD to have upsetting flashbacks or nightmares of the event, and be physically/psychologically distressed when reminded of the event- PTSD may manifest as intense fear, helplessness, aggression or horror- Gurent treatments may incorporate psychotherapy and medications to manage symptoms-   choose to focus on the impact of PTSD on daily functions (e-g- sleep, memory,
