United Airlines Baggage Policy Barbara Roberts, an event planner for Popping Party Planning, was traveling from New York, NY to Los Angeles, CA for a consulting meeting for Harrison Ford's grandson in Beverly Hills. Popping Party Planning is a high end event planning company, which is known to go over the top' on extravagant, and expensive parties. costing from $20,000 up to $500,000 for a single party. She was scheduled to sit in Business Class on a United Airlines direct flight to Los Angeles.
When she got to the counter to check in for her flight, the United Airlines representative told her she has been selected to upgrade to First Class. Without hesitation, Barbara agreed. However, there was still a fee for her three bags she was checking in, of $250, for being over the minimal weight allowed. No matter what class you are sitting in, there is a fee for overweight bags. Barbara was not aware of this and thought she could check her bags in for free since she was flying First Class. When Barbara received her credit card statement the following month, she noticed she was charged her a S250 fee for the three overweight checked bags. This did not sit well with Barbara. She wrote to United Airlines asking for a refund of the $250 since she sat in First Class, and you never have to pay for checked bags in First Class. However, you do if they are overweight.
