Press Article Analysis
1. Select a popular press article that was published within the past FIVE years.
2. Once you choose your article, use the University Library to locate research articles that address the claims made in your popular press article. Choose research articles that were published within the past TEN years. You may find articles that are contrary to what was written in your article or you may find research showing that the claim is supported. You may also find conflicting information that displays that the topic is widely debated within the health industry. All scenarios are okay. Approach this project without bias and see what you find.
3. Your research articles must be peer reviewed and ORIGINAL research only. Review articles will NOT be accepted.
4. Be sure to also review the references posted at the end of your article if you can access them through the University library. For the articles you have access to, evaluate them and compare them to what was reported in the popular press article. Is the research fairly represented or did the author skew the research to fit the goal of their article?
5. Be sure to conclude your findings. Again, your conclusion might be in line with your original article or it might not. Either outcome is completely okay.
