Primary source

In 200-500 words, write an ESSAY discussing the primary source that you chose: 1-Voices of Freedom: Scarouyady, Speech to Pennsylvania Provincial Council (1756) OR 2-Voices of Freedom: From Pontiac, Speeches (1762-1763) Your essay should include two sections: one in which you explain the document itself, and another in which you connect the document to the historical context. I-Explaining the document: As you explain the document, answer the following questions: Discuss: Who is writing? To whom are they writing? Who is their intended audience? What is the author's purpose in writing this document? What is his overall message in this document (Content of the document)?
How is the author making his point — what's the genre (a letter, a speech, book, etc.) and/or what are the techniques they use to convince their reader (persuasive, emotional or objective, scientific language, etc.)?
Is the author persuasive?
II- Historical context:
Is the author persuasive? II- Historical context: Explain how the document fits into the story of American history discussed in this week's materials. The information about context will come from the module or from your textbook. Think of the historical context as the Big Picture. What is happening in this time (late 18th century) and place (British Empire)? How does the document fit into this specific time and place? Discuss: What do you know about the time and place (British Empire, 18th century, Seven Years' War) where the document was written? What does the document tell us about this specific time and place and the role of the author in this specific time and place? Your goal is not only to explain what the document says, but to analyze and interpret the document, given what you know about the historical context.
