The security risks from an "inside" person(s) are major issues. You would like to trust your employees and sub-contractors, but sometimes people have agendas that are designed to hurt your business. Disgruntled employees can be problematic in both public policing and in private security.
- What is your opinion of the article?
- Should a police department and or private security employer do a mini background check on their existing employees to see if their driver's licenses (DL) and FOID card are current and valid?
We talked about "trust" in this class before. If your supervisor asks to see your DL and or FOID card, three years after you were hired, how would you respond? Does your boss have a valid interest to verify that both of these are indeed still valid? Just imagine the media fallout if one of your employees had a major traffic accident and it was later found out that his/her DL was suspended.
