EXERCISE:
Following the reading of chapter 12 and review of the PowerPoint file provided in the course
resources, answer the following questions:
12a. Conduct an Internet search about IT outsourcing and identify two articles for and
against outsourcing. (suggested sites: CIO.com, informationweek.com)
Provide the articles titles and web-address.
12b. Describe, in your own words, the short and long term benefits to the outsourcing
organization.
12c. Describe, in your own words, the disadvantages to the outsourcing organization.
12d. How can software assist in procuring goods and services? What is e-procurement
software? Do you see any ethical issues with e-procurement? For example, should
stores be able to block people with smart phones from taking pictures of barcodes
in their stores to do comparison shopping?
