Description
- Determine a problem that exists in society (e.g., education, politics, food insecurity, homelessness, technology, science, environment, etc.). While the problem should be significant to many people, select a topic with which you’re already familiar.
- Investigate the topic to determine the following: 1) What evidence illustrates that the problem exists? 2) What are the reasons the problem is a problem? 3) What is a solution to the problem (or to mitigate it)? 4) Why/how will the solution be effective?
- Using the “four pillars of argument” (Chapter 1), construct a 4-8 page research argument in which you propose a solution to your selected problem.
