Application of ICT in the construction industry
Durin" rel="nofollow">ing the last 10 years, in" rel="nofollow">information and communication technologies (ICT) have generated great changes
in" rel="nofollow">in the construction in" rel="nofollow">industry. More changes are expected to come in" rel="nofollow">in the next 15 years. Based on the prin" rel="nofollow">inciple
that the future can be in" rel="nofollow">influenced if we know what we want it to be, Erdogan, Abbott & Aouad (2010)
proposed a vision for the for the next 15 years. The vision (see
below) is based on four strands: people, processes, technology and places.
Vision: “The construction in" rel="nofollow">industry is supported by tools and technologies which are fully compatible,
developed usin" rel="nofollow">ing open standard software and that put people at the centre of focus, thus enablin" rel="nofollow">ing creativity,
creatin" rel="nofollow">ing in" rel="nofollow">integrated busin" rel="nofollow">iness processes that are consistent and compatible; and facilitatin" rel="nofollow">ing less
geographically dependent ways of workin" rel="nofollow">ing.”
