PICOT
Population/ Patient: Elderly patients
Intervention: In elderly patients, will repositioning reduce the incidence of pressure sores compared to no changes in positioning within six months?
Comparison: Repositiong compared to leaving the patient in the same position for many hours
Outcome: Frequently, patients would be repositioned (every 2 hours) compared to no repositioning schedule.
Time: Six months
The study will be at an assisted living facility.
The paper has to have an Abstract, Introduction, Literature Review, Sampling Methods, Methodology, Data Analysis, and Conclusion
Abstract: A clear overview of the paper's contents. No more than 150 words.
Introduction: Clear identification of a nursing problem and the background of the problem. Hypothesis or research questions identified-be sure they are measurable
Literature Review: Review pertinent at least 5 research articles and summarize. Sampling methods needed to undertake this particular study-where, how, when, and why will you choose the sample? Ethical issues addressed.
Methodology: how will the data be collected- interviews, questionnaires, surveys, etc. what kind of questions or observations will be included? Not expecting entire document but areas to be included with type of response such as narrative, yes/no, Likert. Must be feasible.
Data analysis type of potential specific statistical tests to be used for which data. Why?
Conclusion: summarizes proposed study and benefits to nursing
