Objective of the original assignment: (Who was the audience; what was the purpose of the assignment?)
The purpose of the narrative was to create an article much like one would when in law enforcement, such as performance appraisals, accident reports, and incident reports. The purpose was to tell my instructor what I observed.
My writing strengths: (Be specific, and remember, spelling and grammar are not the only strengths.)
My strength in this narrative was my use of commas. There are a large number of commas in this paper because of all the dates and time changes.
Areas needing work: (i.e., Are your weaknesses in this piece of writing different from your weaknesses in another piece of writing?)
When first writing this narrative, I found it hard to stay in one tense. This was not a new discovery; I have known this for a while, and without consciously trying to stay in one tense, I was switching a lot. As the semester has carried on, I am finding it easier.
Revised copy: (Explain the changes you made; be specific, i.e., changed three spelling errors, corrected four run-on sentences)
In the second paragraph, there was one instance of skipping between tenses, so I changed the, “orders,” to “ordered.” I also missed an apostrophe in the second paragraph on “customer’s.” A comma and space were missing between “6:09,” and, “p.m.,” in the second paragraph as well. By adding the space between the time and p.m., I created uniformity throughout the paper.
Comment on the final revised copy: (How do you feel about the final version?)
By adding the changes to the paper, the reading of the paper becomes smooth, allowing for an information intake, which was the purpose of the assignment.
