Reproductive Rights Advocacy Activity

Reproductive Rights Advocacy Activity Order Description Students will scan the environment for areas where policy needs to be changed, developed, or where advocacy is necessary. Students will demonstrate their ability to develop opportunities to advocate with colleagues, clients, and the community for policy change by becomin" rel="nofollow">ing actively in" rel="nofollow">involved in" rel="nofollow">in advocatin" rel="nofollow">ing for a specific policy that advances social well-bein" rel="nofollow">ing and acknowledge the in" rel="nofollow">intersectionality of human rights and social, environmental, and economic justice. Students will implement this activity (letter writin" rel="nofollow">ing, lobbyin" rel="nofollow">ing, workin" rel="nofollow">ing on a campaign, etc.) and write a paper describin" rel="nofollow">ing their efforts and reflectin" rel="nofollow">ing on their experience. Students will demonstrate leadership by sharin" rel="nofollow">ing this opportunity and experience through a presentation to classmates Follow these guidelin" rel="nofollow">ines 1. Describe how you scanned the environment to select an area where existin" rel="nofollow">ing policy has created barriers for in" rel="nofollow">individuals, groups, or communities through the process of nuanced analysis. For this section, you want to talk about the reason you became aware of the problem you've identified. You will discuss how women rights evolved in" rel="nofollow">into issues with reproductive rights. You want to talk about legislation (specific legislative measures) and perhaps clin" rel="nofollow">inical examples 2. Discuss how you formulated a plan to address the needed advocacy; be sure to in" rel="nofollow">include any collaboration with in" rel="nofollow">individuals, colleagues, groups, or communities. For this discuss how you used Center for Reproductive Rights and Planned Parent Hood as a model to advocate. 3. Summarize the advocacy activity, bein" rel="nofollow">ing explicit about any in" rel="nofollow">interactions with colleagues, clients, or the community durin" rel="nofollow">ing the process. For the task you voted in" rel="nofollow">in municipal general elections, wrote a letter to legislator, and donated fundin" rel="nofollow">ing to the cause.
