ASSESSMENT The student will submit a written critical evaluation of one quantitative and one qualitative published research studies consistin" rel="nofollow">ing of 2500 words (the 2 studies may not necessarily be on the same subject/topic). The analysis should focus on the strengths and limitations of each study. Comments should be made regardin" rel="nofollow">ing the research design and methodology used. These should in" rel="nofollow">include the appropriateness of the chosen research approach e.g. experiment, survey, phenomenology etc. to answer the questions asked or achievin" rel="nofollow">ing the aims of the study or to test the hypothesis/es and its main" rel="nofollow">in strengths and limitations; the research population and sample in" rel="nofollow">includin" rel="nofollow">ing size, in" rel="nofollow">inclusion and exclusion criteria, selection method i.e. whether random or non-random and whether fin" rel="nofollow">indin" rel="nofollow">ings can be generalised; how well the ethical issues have been addressed; the data collection tool/s, their appropriateness, main" rel="nofollow">in advantages and limitations in" rel="nofollow">includin" rel="nofollow">ing reliability and validity issues; methods of data analysis and presentation of results; main" rel="nofollow">in fin" rel="nofollow">indin" rel="nofollow">ings and conclusion/recommendations. Statements made should be supported with sources from the appropriate literature such as reports, research textbooks and journal articles.
