One of the most useful activities in preparing a research project or proposal is getting into the literature to (1) see what's already been done that's similar to your project, or (2) find out that your project is wholly unique and that you're filling any gaps that exist. For the purposes of this course, you're simply dipping your toe in the literature review pond.
A literature review is surveys books, scholarly articles, and any other sources relevant to a particular issue, area of research, or theory, and by so doing, provides a description, summary, and critical evaluation of these works in relation to the research problem being investigated (Fink, 2014).
