This assignment will allow you scope to develop a research proposal that meets your particular research background, interests and expertise, within a thematic question framework. You are required to write a research proposal, on a topic area related to your area of expertise and/or discipline. In order to approach this particular assignment you need to identify which issue area you would like to focus your work on and ensure that there are ample resources available to you to conduct adequate research on your chosen area. As a guideline, your research proposal may cover the following points: - What background research did you do? - Why did you choose this specific topic (relevance of topic; past, current and future trends; dimensions of the topic and impact – e.g. social, economical, environmental impact, etc.). - What are the research questions you will focus on? - How will the knowledge you gained through your Bachelor of Arts assist you in conducting the research? Other elements your proposal should include are (not in specific order): • A working title • The formulation of a problem or theme associated with the topic you have chosen (a research statement) • A brief review of the available literature on your research topic • Identify your particular research methodology and theoretical approach for researching your topic • Include approximately 3 or 4 central questions that will guide your research • List four (4) scholarly sources that you have used to conduct preliminary research to write your proposal.
