Description
During the Revolutionary War, Blacks/Africans, free and enslaved, were faced with the dilemma of who to side with, the British or the American colonists? In this essay, discuss the factors that influenced Blacks/Africans choice, addressing why one side would be chosen and the other rejected.
The following questions may help you to consider/think about as you approach your discussion:
What was the mood in America at the time? What was in it for the Africans in their choice? In choosing a side, did enslaved Africans have different considerations than that of free Africans, and vice-versa? If so, what were they? Could or should Africans trust either side? Were promises made? Were they kept? Were there consequences to the choices made?
In summation, you have to discuss the factors that influenced Africans' decisions in choosing and rejecting where to side--the British or the American colonists--during the American Revolution.
The essay should be 600-700 words
