Rogers described what he believed were the characteristics of a relationship that could help us to change for
the better. In this assignment, use his vocabulary to describe the relationship you're asked to think about.
Think of the deepest, most meaningful relationship you have ever experienced with another person (that is, a
unique interpersonal relationship that has brought out or enhanced your best qualities and that has promoted
your growth and maturity as an individual, a relationship that has contributed significantly to a feeling of wellbeing). (Rule out parents and other family members in this Discussion). What was the nature of the
relationship? Paint a word picture of it as best you can. What did your friend contribute to the relationship?
What did you contribute to the relationship? Try to identify the influence that this therapeutic relationship has
had upon your life and personality and the changes that have come about as a result. Apply the vocabulary of
