The “ Management in the Movies ” Case Study Douglas College Sales Management 4410 Case Study due on June 7th
You will view the movies “ The Company Men ” , “ In Good Company ” and “ Margin Call ” . All three movies are on 24 hour reserve in the Library .
Please feel free to make notes during the viewing so that you can answer the questions below for your case study .
Your written answers should be limited to no more than two pages in length and will be submitted to the instructor on June 7th , 2019 . The questions are as follows :
1 . One of the themes of the movies in ethics in business . There are a number of examples of ethical dilemmas being managed by the characters in the films . Please comment on at least four such dilemmas and indicate whether you agree with what happened . If you disagreed with the decision , please indicate what you would have done in the same situation .
2 . There is a great deal of discussion about success and failure in all three movies . How would you define success and failure and how does your definition differ and / or agree with some of the points made in the movies ?
3 . There are examples of how individuals and families deal with setbacks and problems . Describe some of these situations and which ones did you think were most realistic ? What lessons can be learned from the examples you provided ?
4 . There are good and bad approaches when you are dismissing staff . There are a number of firings in these movies . What is your assessment of the techniques displayed in the movies ? How realistic were these scenes ? What might you do differently ?
