Find out about the data and reporting systems in your school or district office and submit a written report (in Word) describing the nature and operation of the system. You may pick any data system (paper or computer) which could include data such as attendance, test scores, tuition etc). You should include the following information (at a minimum): Data Administration 1. Who administers the system? 2. How large a staff is required? Data Management 1. How is information gathered? Is it a computer based or paper based operation? 2. What provisions are made for data verification and correction? 3. How is data stored and secured? 4. How is data access controlled? Who can access data? Ease of access? Reporting 1. What mandated reports are required by federal, state, or local agencies? 2. Are these reports used internally or filed and forgotten? 3. Apart from required reports, how is the data use by the school/district? What kind of analyses are conducted? By whom? Is data used in your school/district to support instruction? How?
