Locate the facts and the holding or standard of law for each case. Some of these are in your book but unfortunately most of them do not include the facts, so you have research these cases as well. ( there is a case index in your textbook)
A good place to start is: http://www.oyez.org/ U.S. Supreme Court Media. Not all of these are covered in the current chapters we are reading but you are expected to know all of these for your tests.
What does the “holding” mean? This basically states what the courts FINAL ruling is-for that particular case—how did the courts ultimately rule and why.
What does standard or rule of law mean? Many cases established certain doctrines such as “good faith” or “plain view”
